Analysis of John 14:6 Torah is the Only Way to the Father

Many people ask us about the verse Yohanan(John) 14:6. Does it imply that only through the name of Yeshua can there be salvation? What happened to the prophets and the Patriarchs? What about the Jewish people who follow the commandments of the Torah with their hearts?

One of those cases of confrontation with the interpretation of this verse is Luke 10:25-37 where Yeshua affirms to the Doctor of the Law of Moses “do this and live”, inheriting eternal life, without affirming the messianism of Yeshua.

Yohann is the most metaphorical book of all the Gospels. It was written in a time when there were certain conflicts in the synagogues between Jewish-Christians and Orthodox Jews. No one wanted to be expelled from the synagogue to which he had remained since childhood. In this book Yohann wanted to always express that Yeshua, the Messiah of Israel, lived, preached and behaved like the living Torah. Not once did Yeshua attack any of the laws of Moses, but the laws of man (tradition) of the Talmud.

“I am the way, the truth and the life, nobody comes to the Father but by my” said Yeshua in Yohanan (John) 14.6

What questions can we ask about this verse?

1. What does it mean: I am the way?
2. What does it mean I am the truth?
3. What does it mean I am life?
4. What does it mean no one comes to the Father (The Creator of the Universe) but by me (Yeshua)?

Let’s discuss the context of this verse: see the commentaries inside ()

Yohanan (John) 14:1-8 “Let not your heart be troubled. Believe in Elohim, believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many staying places. And if not, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I shall come again and receive you to Myself, that where I am, you might be too.

And where I go you know (to the Father), and the way you know (through His Word). Yeshua said to Him, Master, we do not know where You are going, and how are we able to know the way?” Yeshua said to him, “I am the Way, and the Truth, and the Life (I am His Word). No one comes to the Father except through Me (through the Torah (His Word)).

“If you had known Me, you would have known My Father too. From now on you know Him, and have seen.” Philip said to Him, Master, show us the Father, and it is enough for us. (Philip did not understood Yeshua)

So Yeshua = Word of YHWH = Torah = Commandments of Elohim

Yohanan (John) said in 14:9 -17 “Yeshua said to him, “Have I been with you so long, and you have not known Me, Philip? He who has seen Me has seen the Father (His Word), and how do you say, ‘Show us the Father’? Do you not believe that I am in the Father, and the Father is in Me? The words that I speak to you I do not speak from Myself (The Words of Elohim). But the Father who stays in Me does His works. Believe Me that I am in the Father and the Father in Me, otherwise believe Me because of the works themselves. “Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he shall do also. And greater works than these he shall do, because I go to My Father.  “And whatever you ask in My Name, that I shall do, in order that the Father might be esteemed in the Son. “If you ask whatever in My Name, I shall do it.

What did Yeshua said at the end?

14:15 If you love Me, you shall guard My commands (His Words). “And I shall ask the Father, and He shall give you another Helper, to stay with you forever”.

So Yeshua = Word of YHWH = Torah = Commandments of Elohim

Let’s look at other verses that in their own context make us come to the same conclusion:

Devarim (Deu) 18:18-19  “‘I shall raise up for them a Prophet like you out of the midst of their brothers. And I shall put My Words in His mouth, and He shall speak to them all that I command Him. And it shall be, the man who does not listen to My Words which He speaks in My Name, I require it of him”.

Shemo (Exo) 18:20  “And you shall enlighten them concerning the laws and the Torah, and show them the way in which they should walk and the work which they do”.

Devarim (Deu) 10:12-13 “And now, Israel, what is YHWHyour Elohim asking of you, but to fear YHWH your Elohim, to walk in all His ways and to love Him, and to serve YHWH your Elohim with all your heart and with all your being,  to guard the commands of YHWH and His laws which I command you today for your good?

Tehilim (Sal) 119:30 “I have chosen the way of truth; Your right-rulings I have held level.”

Tehilim (Sal) 86:11  ” Teach me Your way, O YHWH; Let me walk in Your truth; Unite my heart to fear Your Name”

In the end we read the verse pointed at the beginning, changing the words, with the right words:

“I, the Living Torah, am the way, the truth and the life, no one comes to the Father, the creator of the universe, but for me, the Living Torah, His given Word”

! Now it makes sense !

Blessings to all.
