Matthew 8:22 “But Yeshua said unto him, Follow me; and let the dead bury their dead“.

There are a few verses of the song “White town” of the singer-songwriter Juan ManuelSerrat which says:

“but the dead are in captivity, and they do not let us out of the cemetery“ which applies perfectly to understand what Yeshua meant with this phrase.

WHAT DOES YESHUA MEANS IN THAT LAST VERSE

Let’s see the first two verses:

Matthew 22:31-32 “But as touching the resurrection of the dead, have ye not read that which was spoken unto you by Elohim, saying, I am theElohim of Abraham, and the Elohim of Isaac, and the Elohim of Jacob? Elohim is not the Elohim of the dead, but of the living“.

Mark 12:27 “He is not the Elohim of the dead, but the Elohim of the living: ye therefore do greatly err”.

When Yeshua, the Messiah of Israel, is taking and says: “Follow me; and let the dead bury their dead”, He is talking about spiritual dead people, those who have not received the touch of the Spirit of Elohim and have come to the feet of YHWH through Yeshua, his only begotten son. That is why Yeshua says to them “Follow me”.

That does not mean that we don’t have to honor our parents and loved ones in time or to bury them; it is our responsibility to ensure that everything that we made is based on the Torah. But what the Messiah of Israel saying is that it is more important to live among those who are alive because they have received and have the testimony of Yeshua and are fulfilling the commandments of YHWH in his life, and not live among those who are dead because they don’t know the Messiah and his father the Creator of the universe (unequally yoked).

NOTE: You should always live a fullfiling life with Elohim, but should separate from those who does not want to live as observants of the Torah.

Luke 9:60-62 “Yeshua said unto him, Let the dead bury their dead: but go thou and preach the kingdom of Elohim. And another also said, Lord, I will follow thee; but let me first go bid them farewell, which are at home at my house. And Yeshua said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of Elohim“.

Clearly, Yeshua says that this does not mean to abandon everything to their fate, but we should be a light to the Nations, bring the good news through our testimony of life.

RESURRECTION AND ETERNAL LIFE THROUGH THE MASHIACH

Elohim gave Yeshua special gifts and priviledges:

Luke 24:5 “And becoming frightened and bowing their faces to the earth, these said to them, “Why do you seek the living among the dead?

John 5:21, 24-26 “For as the Father raises the dead and makes alive, even so the Son makes alive whom He wishes. Truly, truly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me possesses everlasting life, and does not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life. Truly, truly, I say to you, the hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of Elohim. And those having heard shall live. For as the Father possesses life in Himself, so He gave also to the Son to possess life in Himself“

Act 26:23 “that the Messiah would suffer, would be the first to rise from the dead, He would proclaim light to the people and to the gentiles (proselytes).”

Romans 1:4 “who was designated Son of Elohim with power, according to the Spirit, by the resurrection from the dead: יהושע Messiah, the Master of us”

CLEARLY IN THESE VERSES IT SHOW SOME MESSAGES

1.- YHWH, the Elohim, has given His son life itself to resurrect other if “hears my word, and believes Him that sent me, has eternal life;” and it will not come to condemnation, but it has passed from death to life “because the son” to those who want gives life”and” the dead shall hear the voice of the son of Elohim; and those who hear it live.”

2.- This “good news” only comes to the “people of Israel” and the “Goim”, foreign wishing to be part of the Pact with Israel through know Yeshua by the power of the Spirit of Elohim, so it become “proselyte”. The lost tribes of Israel through out the world.

The law of the Torah must be valid so we can know through Yeshua the Eternal Father and engage in an Eternal Covenant with Him. The faith given by the spirit of Elohim brings us to know and accept His son, and His salvation and eternal life that gives us.

Romans 4:15 “for the Torah works out wrath, for where there is no Torah there is no transgression. On account of this it is of belief, that it be according to favour, for the promise to be made certain to all the seed, not only to those who are of the Torah, but also to those who are of the belief of Aḇraham, who is father of us all as it has been written, “I have made you a father of many nations” – in the presence of Him whom he believed, even Elohim, who gives life to the dead and calls that which does not exist as existing, who against all expectation did believe, in expectation, so that he should become father of many nations, according to what was said, “So shall your seed be.” And not having grown weak in belief, he did not consider his own body, already dead, being about a hundred years old, and the deadness of Sarahʼs womb,

Romans 6:4 “We were therefore buried with Him through immersion into death, that as Mashiach was raised from the dead by the esteem of the Father, so also we should walk in newness of life“.
